As I settle into my chair and admire the view, out of the
corner of my eye a Ruby-throated Hummingbird stops by our feeder to take a drink.
I sit very still, watching it as it perches and feeds for over a minute. It
seems so silly to write this but it IS the moments like this that make me feel
more and more in touch with my surroundings. I feel so privileged to be here at
Hawk Mountain, where every day I spend outside observing, learning and appreciating
what is around me.
So with that said, those of us working on this project have decided that we want our contributions to this blog to
be more detailed and personal than just general updates on the Broad-winged Hawk Project. We want those reading this to feel as though they are with us in the field and get a glimpse of what we get to see.
We hope you enjoy it!
